“True leaders create their own path”
Leadership can feel like a lonely road.
You guide and inspire your team, you collaborate with colleagues, you handle things to support your boss. When do you get to share what’s really going on for you?
The more you progress, the less it seems you get to talk with complete freedom about your own leadership.
That’s where I help.
For over 20 years I led people, partnerships and programmes at the UK Department for International Development (now FCDO). The context was as complex and unpredictable as it gets. Think Syria. Think DRC. Think navigating the United Nations.
The teams were cross-cultural and diverse. Delivery was hundreds of millions of dollars.
When you face your own challenges you want someone by your side who has been there too.
My coaching credential: I am a professional coach, certified at the advanced PCC level with the International Coaching Federation. That means I have the training, experience and proven expert skills to support you.
What even is leadership?
Leadership is not mysterious or special. There is no secret formula or framework you have to master. You DO need to commit to one thing: becoming the leader you are. You cannot successfully lead like anyone else. You can only lead like you.
I like to keep it really simple.
There are three things you need to be:
Aware of yourself
Open to alternatives
Committed to take action
There are three things you need to know:
What your role is for - your Why
What matters to you about how you do it - your How
What you will choose to spend your time on - your What
You need to have less than you think. You do not need confidence. You do not need advanced skills. These are results of leading, not requirements.
You do need a willingness for honest reflection, curious exploration and deliberate action. You need the courage to get uncomfortable. You need the commitment to grow.

Coaching can be particularly effective at times of change, such as taking on a new role or stepping up a level. But it is powerful for expanding your comfort and competence at any time. Most importantly it opens the way to feeling truly at home with the leader that you are. Because that’s when you are at your best.
